The presentation by Brandon Sanchez (History, DePaul Univ.) will examine the Guatemalan guerrilla struggle that arose in 1960, with a particular emphasis on Indigenous participation. It will explore the concepts of love, trust, and education and their revolutionary, transformative processes for Indigenous folks, as well as the way in which they made sense of the revolution. It will also highlight the regions of Ixcán and Rabinal, which were important regions of struggle for Indigenous revolutionaries.
